ONE HEALTH: INFORMATION IN AN INTERDEPENDENT WORLD
2013 will provide a unique opportunity to explore the global interdependency of health information at a federated international meeting incorporating the Annual Meeting & Exhibition of the Medical Library Association (MLA’13), the 11th International Congress on Medical Librarianship (ICML), the 7th International Conference of Animal Health Information Specialists (ICAHIS), and the 6th International Clinical Librarian Conference (ICLC).
Manage Health Information – Stay Informed – Make Connections
Come participate and celebrate the information aspects, rich diversity, and global interdependencies of “One Health” encompassing human and animal health, public health, environment health, climate change, food safety/production, and international policy. General meeting topics will include trustworthy and authoritative publicly available information, new methods of publishing, global data sharing to advance science, and environmental aspects of global health. The international meeting will be a federated meeting incorporating MLA’s extensive continuing education and MLA Section programming but also offering an intriguing palette of international papers and posters underscoring our global information interdependency.
Our meeting location in Boston offers abundant opportunities to explore the culture, cuisine, shopping, and uniqueness of one of America’s most interesting and historic cities. The meeting site is Hynes Convention Center located in the heart of Boston’s attractive Back Bay area which is filled with shopping and dining opportunities with some of the city’s most historic sites in close proximity. The Convention Center is attached to an extensive covered mall (Prudential Center/Copley Place complex) and affords a great opportunity for shopping and dining with the added convenience of easy access to the Sheraton Boston Hotel, the official meeting hotel which is located within the mall complex.

NOTE TO SECTION PROGRAM PLANNERS
Additional lead time for the 2013 federated international meeting being held in conjunction with MLA’13 required a modification of the usual schedule and process for Section planning for this meeting. It is anticipated that much of the work of exploring program ideas with potential partners and review of submitted structured abstracts will occur electronically. Section Program Chairs and Planners will receive further background and directions from the Section Council chair and Section Council liaison about the process, procedures, and timelines, along with the availability of a 2013 Program Planning Manual link in the Section Council website
