The Doody's Review Service database shows that almost 7,000 books in the
health sciences have been published in the last 12 months...an
astounding number in "the-book-is-dead" era.
What's hot? What's not? Join Mark E. Funk, AHIP, associate director of
the medical library at Weill Cornell Medical College and former
president of the Medical Library Association (MLA), as he moderates a
lively conversation about the rapid emergence of medical eBook publishing.
The panel features two leading collection development medical librarians
and two medical publishing professionals. Deb Blecic, bibliographer for
the life and health sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago,
and Liz Lorbeer, associate director of the Lister Hill Library at the
University of Alabama at Birmingham, will give their views on the state
of medical eBook publishing today and the trends they believe will drive
collection development in 2011. You'll also get publishers' perspectives
from Jennie Stewart, health sciences marketing director for
Wiley-Blackwell, and Dan Doody of Doody Enterprises.
