[Mla-cds] Collection Development Policies - Antiquated?

Hello:

I'm new to acquisitions and collection development in an academic medical
library and I'm charged with updating the collection development policy
(which was last revised in 2004). I'm looking for current examples of
medical school library collection development policies that include
electronic format (databases and e-books). Throughout my research, I'm
finding that many institutions are not using true policies anymore because
the information and resources change so quickly. Many are using selection
guidelines instead. So now I'm curious - is there a trend in medical
libraries (especially academic) to move away from traditional collection
development policies to something more flexible and transparent? If so, what
is everyone using? What's your system and is it working?

I will collect all responses and send results to the list.

Thanks in advance for your help and advice!

Best,

Amanda
